Getting Started


Give me a call or send me an email through the contacts page.

I will arrange to meet you at your site to discuss your concepts and ideas on what you want to achieve.

I will research your site so that up front we are all aware of council and regulatory requirements that may effect or restrict the final design.

By meeting at the site I can assist with making the most of sun, view, privacy and the current environment.

 

Concept

After formalising a brief of your requirements I provide a quote for all services to be provided, covering aspects of the proposed design such as:

relationship of living spaces

style of design – roof, windows, materials

methods of construction – timber, concrete block

eco – concepts – solar, sustainability, building methods, ecology

budget range – based on square metre rates

 

I will obtain separate quotes for site surveying if it does not exist already, this allows the best interface of the proposal onto the site and is essential to assure for compliance to council regulations.

I will prepare floor plans and elevations on the site for you to review and discuss to develop the final concept.

Development

Develop plans - make changes or massage the plans to achieve the final plans and elevations to the client’s satisfaction.

Once you are satisfied that the concept is right, I take the plan forward and produce all the technical documents that are required for:

the council to assess and issue a building consent

the builder to do material take offs and along with his subcontractors provide a quotation to build

the engineer to provide structural input as required

the suppliers such as frames and truss manufacturers, window supplier, to prepare there shop drawings and producer statements.

the kitchen designer to prepare the joinery plans to your requirements.

 

With recent changes to the building act lodging the building consent has become quite complex. My quotation will include a fee to lodge the consent and monitor the process until the consent is issued.

Build

On site management of the build is best provided by a qualified project manager but for those who want to manage the process themselves I can also quote to proved observation at pre-determined stages through to completion.

Completion

upon completion of the build I can bring any changes that occurred during the build into the plan to make the plans As Built for code of compliance.
